Notes by division
- T-Ball: New for 2027: tee ball bats can only be used with low-compression balls. They're not legal in 6U Coach Pitch or any pitched-ball division, or in 6U/8U tournaments.
- 6U Coach Pitch through 12U Majors: USSSA (BPF 1.15) bats are illegal in every division. BBCOR bats must be -3. New for 2027: no tee ball bats in 6U Coach Pitch. Base rules come from DYB's 2023 bat regulations.
- Boys (13–14) & 15U: USA Baseball stamp, BBCOR .50 or solid wood; 2 5/8" max barrel. 2 3/4" barrels and USSSA (BPF 1.15) bats are not allowed.
- Pre-Majors & Majors: Diamond Boys' 2022–2023 rule changes say "BBCOR only bats are required for all Dixie Pre-Majors and Dixie Majors play." USA Baseball and USSSA bats are not allowed.
Stamps used in Diamond Youth & Diamond Boys (formerly Dixie)
- USA Baseball tee ball mark ("Only for use with approved tee balls"): Tee ball bats carry the USA Baseball mark plus "Only for use with approved tee balls". They're legal only with approved low-compression tee balls, never with a regular pitched baseball. Official list.
- USA Baseball (USABat) mark: USA Baseball's youth standard, which makes bats perform close to wood. Barrel up to 2 5/8", no drop limit, and no new USABat is made longer than 32". Required in Little League, Cal Ripken, PONY, Diamond Youth (Dixie), AABC and most rec leagues. Official list.
- one-piece solid wood: One-piece solid wood is legal almost everywhere without a stamp. Multi-piece, laminated, bamboo and composite-wood bats usually do need a certification mark.
- BBCOR .50 mark: The high school and college standard: -3 drop, barrel up to 2 5/8", 36" max. BBCOR bats made before USA BBCOR stay legal in high school indefinitely, but the NCAA requires the new USA BBCOR mark from Jan 1, 2029. Official list.
