13U and 14U travel ball bat rules (USSSA, Perfect Game, Game Day, AAU)
13U and 14U are where travel bat rules get confusing. Here's every organization side by side. Last checked Oct 23, 2026.
Between 12U and 15U, travel organizations move players from light USSSA bats to -3 BBCOR, and they don't agree on when. That's why a bat legal at one tournament can be illegal at the next.
| Organization | 13U | 14U |
|---|---|---|
| USSSA (national) | No lighter than -8 (some states -5) | BBCOR or wood (MO/KS/OK allow -5) |
| Perfect Game | No lighter than -5 | -3 BBCOR or wood |
| Game Day USA | No lighter than -8 | No lighter than -5 |
| AAU (nationals) | No restrictions | -3 BBCOR |
| AABC | USA Baseball stamp only | -3 BBCOR or wood |
What to buy
- 13U playing several organizations: a -5 USSSA bat is legal almost everywhere at 13U. (AABC is the exception, which needs a USA Baseball stamp.)
- 14U: buy BBCOR. It's legal at every organization's 14U events, and it's what they'll swing in high school.
- Also, 12U at Perfect Game: -5 USSSA bats are banned there, but -6 and lighter are fine.
State and event rules change. Always check the tournament's bat-rules page before the event.
